Paper ticket for one part of a journey

Split ticket Birmingham New Street to thirsk, split at Wolverhampton , Stafford , stoke in Trent and Manchester Piccadilly as here

I booked each component on the TPExpress site ( Cashback & nectar points!). What I don’t understand is why one part of the journey , I can’t remember which bit now but think it was Wolverhampton to Stafford , it could only provide a paper ticket for that part of the journey . e tickets were available for the rest. It’s a journey by cross country from Birmingham to Manchester without changes. Can anyone shed any light on this oddity

I have noticed similar situation on splits at Huddersfield too

It's probably a set up issue with the ticket erroneously not enabled for eticket fulfilment.

Also, as far as I know TPE no longer give Nectar points.
