Is it about time that extra money was made available for a campaign removal Pan 8 track.
Time has now shown that once the sleepers begin to decay, the lockspikes just become cosmetic. Now there is news filtering through about the buckle caused by lockspikes shearing between the bottom of the baseplate and the top of the sleeper.
My section is lucky enough to of had a large campaign of changing the Pan 8s around joints, to new sleepers with pan 11 baseplates, so alot of our rail joints are still level.
