Paddington Underground

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get a floor plan of Paddington Underground station showing where the ticket office, platforms and exits upto the main station are, something like the floor plans you get on National Rail Enquiries

It will be the Bakerloo Line I'll be using, if that's any help.

If your planning to use the station at the moment, unfortunately Paddington Bakerloo is on Exit only due to Escalator Refurbishment. It's a bit of a pain but it's got to be done sometime!

It won't be until December though I like to know where I'm going within a station hence the question asked, the app I found doesn't have a plan of the station, thanks for all the help so far, it's really appreciated

Thanks, I tried that but not exactly what I was looking for, it looks like I'll just have to see when I get there though thanks to Google Street View I know where the escalators and stairs down are in the main station

It's not a particularly complex station and LU are generally pretty good at signing the route you should take.

The easiest way to get to the Bakerloo line at Paddington is from the entrance near the end of Platform 11. You walk down some stairs and then along a short passageway to the gateline; once through the gateline it's a short (by tube line standards) escalator down to the platforms. Before the gateline there are some ticket machines and a booking office, although the latter is not always open.

I don't think this entrance is particularly well signposted. There is a much larger more central Underground entrance, but it's shared with the Circle and District line platforms and as a consequence is more congested - and to get to the Bakerloo line involves walking along a fairly busy Underground passageway. The entrance near Platform 11 serves the Bakerloo line only and is never too crowded in my experience.

Yes that is a good entrance. It was actually closed during the works and everyone had to use the main entrance. It was probably still possible to get to the Bakerloo Line from the main entrance, but there were stairs only for going down.

I was thinking of using the main entrance when I go down, it'll be Wednesday 3rd December I'll be going and know the train I get into Paddington is due in about 12.02, will the station be just as busy as usual round then?

Generally, but not always. Sometimes, like some taxi drivers with the unwary, you are taken via the 'scenic' route!

Thanks in advance, it's ok if nobody can as I'm sure I'll manage in December, I would prefer photo's of the station if possible. Hope this isn't a too hard request?

I'm baffled as to why the OP needs so much information about navigating his way around Paddington, when thousand's of people daily get off HEX and other trains for their first ever trip into London, and have minimal problems navigating around the Station. It's not as if the signage is crap.

I just like getting an idea what a station looks before I go down so I know the basic layout of the station, I've been able to do that with the main station as you can walk through Paddington on Google Maps Street View.

I'll give you all an example of what I mean, the first time I went down to Cardiff I found I had to change at Crewe so one day I got a train down from Montrose-Crewe and spent an hour and I knew what platform I was heading to when I went on the day I was actually going to Cardiff, you could say the trip to Crewe was a dummy run and since I can't do this with Paddington Underground I would prefer if somebody could make a simple plan or photos would suffice.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense, having to travel down from Montrose to Crewe and back, just to see what platform you were heading for. At least I will not be around Paddington Midday on the 3rd December. Wouldn't like to get caught up in the carnage.

I may have a good sense of direction but when possible I like to do dummy runs of a journey so I can see what a station looks like, some people may find it strange but to me it's just a journey and a chance to film to some trains as well
