Paddington Parliamentary

Finally got around to doing the 11.36 Paddington - West Ruislip parliamentary service yesterday. What an absolute treat that was on a hot sticky busy day travelling around London! There was only me, the Train Manager and 2 other pax on the thing.....is this normal??? I am guessing Chiltern keep this service on to maintain route knowledge in case of diversions?......Nice to see the semaphores in good condition too.

It may be slow - but SOOOOOO peaceful!

I travelled on this last year. On the journey into Paddington there was me and one other passenger, but on the return trip to West Ruslip i was the only soul to be seen. I didn't even see any traincrew...though clearly some were there...

It is a steady meander through the suburbs of West London, even if at times there isn't a lot to see. Agree about the 'proper' signalling, even if it does hang the wrong way.

Is this a Parliamentary or solely for retention of Chiltern Route knowledge ?

That got me thinking that perhaps the thread title was a bit "iffy". I'm no expert, but out curiosity I've just Googled it and it came up as one of their Parliamentary examples......of course Google are NEVER wrong!!!!

Arguably a Parliamentary because OOC to Northolt Jn was never proposed for closure when the last Paddington via the joint line was withdrawn. But it runs more than once a week (unlike certain well-known examples) so route knowledge must play a part.
