I've got a 1st class Club 55 London - Penzance ticket for 26 October and intend to catch the 07:30 from Paddington. I'll probably arrive some time before the train leaves. Am I right in assuming I'll be able to use the 1st class lounge while I wait? Pauldubs

Yes, and very good it is too. I used it only a couple of weeks ago.

I do recommend exploring the lounge to find the "Victorian" lounge just behind. Very comfortable, quiet, and perfect for reading the paper. The "main" lounge feels a little clinical and is usually quite busy, I think.

The "main" lounge appears to be used mainly by commuters (stations to Reading/Oxford) because it is nearest the entrance, has a selection of snacks and has a Live Departure Board. The "Victoria" lounge is far more pleasant and comfortable for customers waiting a while for their long distance journey. (Virgin could certainly learn a thing or two. ;))
