At least we are broadly agreed on a name which covers three/five classes of DMU.

Compare this to the dozens of nicknames for Class 70s suggested on the other thread - everyone knows what you mean when you say "Pacer"

i'm not the man to ask Re that, but think we'd prob need 2 or 3 units in multiple to meet demand and maybe best for it to take place on a Sunday. Guess it would take round 8 hours? think a first class pendo return mite be a plan after lol. Yeh i'd join in that too. As said earlier we have none in Scotland and this to me is regretable.

Yes, I think it would need two or three in multiple.

Couple of thoughts:

1) If the tour was one way only then I'd rather return from Glasgow on the Sleeper than a 390.

2) You could be a bit ambitious and have it as a return but with the way back running the long way round via the GSW and S&C, rejoin the main at Preston...

oo lovin the sound of this esp the return diversions. Now maybe a weekends needed, up sat back sun, or as you say sleaper back, all nite sesh in the lounge lol! Equally, a run down the ECML would be grand, and run to edinburgh via shots as for those who like there riding choppy this is a cracker, not normally exployted by the 156s running it in traffic.

More than likely - 143s used to get as far as Berwick when they were based at Heaton. Plus there is daily 142 action on the ECML between Darlo and Newcastle and sometimes south of York as well.
