There are calls from the newly set-up Ebbsfleet Urban Development Corporation to extend Oyster coverage to Ebbsfleet.

In the Standard,

One priority will be to forge a tram link between the station and Bluewater shopping centre. Another is to extend the current Oyster card system out to Ebbsfleet and provide cheaper fares for the 17-minute ride to St Pancras.

"Cheaper fares"? Good luck with that.

What would be handy is a decent pedestrian link between Ebbsfleet and Northfleet stations, giving the SE London/Dartford area an easy international connection.

More chance of hell freezing over than Southeastern agreeing to that! We still don't have Oyster from Stratford Intl yet.

Blame the DfT and SRA then. It was them that decided, in the 'Integrated Kent Franchise' ITT that Southeastern HS services would not be part of the travelcard system, well before Southeastern ever got involved:

A2.4 Travelcard
Bidders should assume that Travelcards will not be accepted for travel on CTRL DS trains. If this assumption changes, a Change under Schedule 9 of the Franchise Agreement will apply to allow the Authority to implement this scheme. All Railcards (e.g. senior citizen) will be accepted at the appropriate level of discount.
