Oyster or KeyGO

If not wanting to purchase Oyster as i believe its now £7 for the card - can you use KeyGO to get a travelcard loaded onto the card with a railcard discount (DSB)?

It's ages since i've had a railcard almost 2 years and things have changed from what i understand.

Or is it best to just stick and buy a paper travelcard?

You don't need keyGo, just a normal Key smartcard.

You should be able to buy a London Travelcard from a Thameslink, Southern, Gatwick Express or Great Northern ticket machine for the Key, but only Off-peak and Anytime travelcards (not Super Off-peak), including with your railcard.

keyGo isn't a replacement for Oyster, as you can only use it on GTR services (and GWR between Redhill and Dorking Deepdene).

And on GWR between Warblington and Brighton. It's worth adding that in some cases KeyGo produces cheaper fares on GTR services than other methods, particularly for railcard holders, as it will discount contactless fares.

It's mentioned on the map though, which is what I was going by. So it is valid, there just aren't any trains.

You can use it (KeyGo) within the zones for PAYG but only on trains operated by GTR. KeyGo is loaded onto a Key card which can have a Travelcard loaded onto it.

We were having the discussion about whether it's valid, but the validity we're discussing is irrelevant because there aren't any trains to use the hypothetical validity on anyway!
