I recently travelled from Paddington to Elmstead Woods via London Bridge using PAYG on my Oyster card.

The Underground part of the journey was uneventful, but I was delayed by over 30 minutes on the London Bridge -> Elmstead Woods part of the journey.

When submitting my Delay Repay claim on the Southeastern website, what should I put as the cost of the ticket?

£5.80 - The cost of the entire journey (including the Underground leg) according to "Single Fare Finder" on the TfL Website
£5.40 - The cost of the journey from London Bridge -> Elmstead Woods according to the SE Website
£4.10 - The cost of the journey from London Bridge -> Elmstead Woods according to the Single Fare Finder
£4.00 - The actual cost to me of the entire journey taking into account the daily cap.

... or something else altogether?

You are entitled to compensation on the basis of the total cost of your journey IMO, which in this case is £5.80.

However in the event of capping, SouthEastern may argue that it would be based on the actual cost to you for the journey, taking into account of capping, and I am not aware of anything that clarifies the matter either way.

I would normally approve the amount based on the full cost of the single journey as the argument gets very messy once you start arguing about capping discounts, and the difference is mostly negligible so from my point of view, it is not an efficient use of my time arguing that with the customer.

Thank you - that's helpful. We'll have to see what they say.

I'd be disappointed if they did take capping into account as that would result in a different amount of compensation for a morning journey (ie before reaching the daily cap) compared to an equivalent delay in the evening (after reaching the cap.) Worse still, no compensation would be payable at all on Saturdays/Sundays for someone who had reached the weekly cap during the week(!)

That said, Delay Repay already seems to compensate different passengers differently for the exact same delay based on the type of ticket purchased etc.
