Oyster Cards

Other than marking the card in some way, how would the holder of a normal Oyster card establish whether a railcard discount or other personalised option had been added, making the card not legal to be transferred or lent to someone else? You could for example have more than one card in a household.

When you scan the card on a ticket vending machine (TVM) to top it up, it indicates what discounts you have.

(The photo below is of a SWR TVM, indicating my Oyster balance, and the wording 'Card Details: Retail - Adult - NR Railcard):
