Infobleep, you can pick up refunds from any station with Oyster, including National Rail.

I agree that it would be much better if they allowed ticket machines to also apply refunds or season tickets like gatelines do, but I suppose it's not been designed that way. I've got an auto-refund I want to remove from an Oyster card I don't use, but can't, as I would have to use it in order to get it removed.

These are all the quirks of having a decentralised system - there are loads of benefits, but there are also these silly issues it causes.

As far as I am aware, refund can only be picked up at Underground stations and not National Rail stations but I stand to be corrected.

It can be picked up at NR stations and Tram stops too.

I was wrong then. However I nearly always use my Oyster o buses and it's irrelevant as I have a good card discount so have to ring up whatever.

I'm sure they will get rid of that requirement one day. It would save TFL money, unless they are making more on people not ringing up to apply for refunds.

Forgive my puzzled mind, but can you expand on this. The gold card discount has no effect on bus fares. What exactly do you have to ring up about? Can you explain what sort of journey it is. Either your Oyster has a gold card discount on it and you will then get cheaper off-peak fares/caps or it hasn't and you won't. I can't believe that TfL regularly entertain phone calls to adjust a missing discount.

Although they were on an 0845 number it is now an 0343 number so it doesn't cost you any more than usual. Or, ironically, any more than had you dialled the old number of 7222 1234. (The notion of "local" and "national" call rates is about 15 years dead).

I believe that legislation will be introduced soon to prohibit companies from publishing anything other than a standard rate number - i.e. something starting with an STD code or 03 - as their contact number for existing customers to call for assistance. However, I believe that the railways have negotiated an exemption, for reasons which are not clear to me.

I'll try and be clearer with an example. I know it doesn't get a discount on buses. I'm referring to other journeys. If I was to try and touch in at Clapham Junction but actually I didn't' do so and then touched out at say Waterloo, I'd be charged the maximum allowed for someone not touching in.

If I then go online a couple of days later, it won't automatically tell me I didn't touch in and I need to apply for a refund. In the fact the only way I find I could see if I'm owed money is by checking my journey history, where it says you didn't not touch in on a journey.

I would then need to ring up as that is the only way to get a refund. It can't be done via the Web Site unless I'm looking at the wrong page or things have changed since I last tried.
