1. I have a Zone 1-2 Travelcard and a NR Railcard loaded onto my standard Oyster Card. Peak and off peak, how much will it cap at if I travel out to;

a.) Zone 4?
b.) Zone 6?

2.) If used prior to 09:30 then for the rest of the day, will it cap at the peak rate, or will it cap at the off peak rate, plus the peak journeys if this is cheaper?

1a) Presumably the relevent cap for zones 3-4, this is £10.00 peak and £7.30 off-peak before the discount. It will become £4.80 off-peak with the railcard discount. These fares also happen to be the same as the zone 1-4 caps, so there is no benifit in having your Travelcard.

b) As per a).

c) It will cap at the off-peak rate plus any peak journeys, unless it is cheaper to apply the peak cap.

1 a) £10.00, £4.80
1 b) £15.00, £5.30

2) As mentioned, if you have less than the off-peak cap remaining to be used at 0930 then it will cap at the peak rate. Otherwise it starts accumulating the off-peak cap from £0.00 at 0930 (or earlier if you touch in at one of the stations listed on my site or the TfL site).

Thank you clagmonster and MikeWh. The abolition of the 2-6 DT/railcard bus cap is proving to be a minor inconvenience.

One thing to add of note is caps and subsequent incomplete journeys. It would appear that if a cap has been reached, followed by an incomplete journey, followed by legitimate journeys, the cap won't be broken, but the maximum charge will still be deducted. In the past, incomplete journeys broke the cap completely.

It also appears that railcard discounts apply to maximum charges!

I'm glad that bug has been fixed, becasue it was a quite disproportionate penalty for what is usually a mistake.

Indeed they do, and have done even before they applied to all individual off-peak charges!
That's interesting. So a passenger touching in at Watford (Met) in 2010 would have been charged a reduced maximum fare even though the full fare would have been payable? Obviously it's academic now, but that seems quite a strange way of doing things.

Not my experience. I will dig out one of my old statement but I'm sure i was deducted £4.20 on one occasion in 2010 when I failed to touch out at East Ham during one of the disruptions.
