- Network Railcard holder has a zone 1 - 2 Travelcard on Oyster
- Wants to travel extensively in zones 1 - 6 on a weekend day

Am I right in thinking the best way is not to use the Oyster card at all and buy a Network Railcard-discounted Day Travelcard because, for capping purposes, the Travelcard on the Oyster card will be ignored?

Thanks

Using NSE discount on travelcard zones 1-6 makes it £5.60 or £5.90 have just shut down my tribute machine!

The reality is, however, that that 3–6 cap is actually a 1–6 cap. TfL got rid of the non-zone-1 caps a couple of years ago (and I'm still fuming about it <( ).

If using a paper travelcard, with Network Railcard discount, would come to £5.90.
The daily price cap on Oyster for zones 3-6 would be £5.60.
See http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tickets/14416.aspx

The daily price cap on Oyster would be £8.50 because a Network card cannot be added to an Oyster card. If it was a 16-25 or senior etc card then the cap would be £5.60. As an aside, if the travelcard season had been a zone 5-6 one then the cap would be cheaper because only zones 1-4 would be needed. There are no longer any daily caps which do not include zone 1.

Oops, I did not realise a Network card could not be added to an Oyster. I shall edit my post accordingley.
I do realise that the Daily price cap for zones 3-6 is the same as the price cap for 1-6.
