I'm travelling to Nottingham early next month and just about to book tickets through the EMT website.

The journey details state that I have to go via London Underground from London Bridge/Victoria (depending on selected journey) to St Pancras Itl.

I was wondering if I could go from East Croydon to St Pancras using First Capital Connect, and if the ticket would allow me to do this.

Cheers.

What day are you looking at going? Many days have no through service between London Bridge an St Pancras at present, so this may explain it.

Hi there,
I'm in Nottingham and I often travel down south to either Uckfield or Brighton.

I do exactly what you've asked - I use Thameslink services from St Pancras to East Croydon. There has never been a problem with the ticket. That's for both advancce tickets on EMT with connections or for walk up tickets.

Of course, do check at either East Croydon or St Pancras that Thameslink services are actually working :)

Cheers,
Jason

I find that sometimes the journey planners think it takes longer using the Thameslink service than the tube via Victoria or Londn Bridge as they still allow a lot of connection time at St Pancras - so they provide the tube journey as a quicker route.
putting "via City Thameslink" will force it to produce an itinerary using the Thamelink services - assuming of course that they are running then.

Remember of course that via Thameslink (from the Brighton direction) there are only four trains an hour, compared with twenty-odd on most tube lines. It's far from a turn-up-and-go option, as I found last time I tried to cross London using it, and I turned up at London Bridge 14 minutes before the next FCC train...

Personally if Im arriving on A Southern train from the south at East Croydon I usually find its quicker to remain on the train to Victoria and take the Victoria line than use thameslink. Thameslinks schedule is very slow throughout the core.
