A recent posting for in another thread links to the traintesting.com website with images for the class 210.

In one of the images:-

Oxford station is shown without an over-bridge.

I'm guessing there was an underpass instead - not unlike Diddyland or Reading.

Does the underpass still exist - or was it filled in when Oxford station was rebuilt in the 80s?

Filled in, I think you might still be able to see the patch of tarmac on P2 where it was. It was at the Southern end of the platform.

Yes, there was a subway. I remember using it the first time I visited the station. It was replaced by a footbridge at the same time the present up side building was constructed (c1990 IIRC). I think the subway was filled in. The site of the entrance used to be visible on the down platform as a rectangle of different coloured tarmac - not sure if it can still be seen.

Just to add.... IRCC the only other time the subway was blocked off was during the earlier BR rebuild of the station which started in 1970 and finshed some time in '72, for a while a temporary scaffolding footbridge was erected, roughly where the 'new' bridge is now, I have a photo of it somewhere, will have a gander and post it ;)

Had a look while I was there last week unfortunately I couldn't see any sign of it on plt 1, I didn't really have time on my way back to look at plt 2.
