Oxford - Manchester - Lancaster - Edinburgh

Hi all

I'm hoping for some help from people who understand the routing guide! I want to travel from Oxford - Manchester on the morning of 19th Sep, spend the day there then go to Lancaster, stay overnight, then continue to Edinburgh the next morning. I will be returning to Lancaster from Edinburgh on either the evening of the 21st or the morning of the 22nd (I'm flexible) and then back to Oxford on the evening of the 22nd or first thing on the 23rd.

I'm stuck even starting to look for tickets because it's not clear to me if I can do (say) Oxford - Manchester - Lancaster on one ticket with a break of journey. I think Edinburgh - Lancaster - Oxford would but break of journey overnight would normally only work with a return portion?

I'd say you'd likely need separate Oxford->Lancaster and then Lancaster->Edinburgh (both off peak return) tickets to do that itinerary hassle-free with the overnight break at Lancaster on the Northbound journey. £126.70 + £82.80.

Possible £11.90 savings if you restrict yourself to Avanti services between Lancaster and Carlisle.
