Oxford cycling

Anyone know of any nice places to cycle accessible from central Oxford? Looking for anything really - whether it's going to somewhere in particular and back like a pub / cafe / park / whatever, a circular route, any cycle paths, etc. Thanks

When I lived near St Giles in the 90s, a quiet route I used to cycle involved heading up through Jericho to Wolvercote, then Godstow and Wytham and the lane parallel parallel to the A34. Then Botley Road, before turning up towards Binsey and then crossing over the river towards Port Meadow. But there was less traffic then, although the Botley Road was not exactly my favourite place.

The Thames Path down to Radley and return by train is very enjoyable. Quite busy with walkers though.

Agreed, that's pleasant enough. You can do out via the Thames and back via the canal as another option but this is slow, walking pace leisure cycling because things get so busy. They aren't (it appears) legally cycling rights of way (marked on the map as a public footpath, not a bridleway) but according to this it's permitted.

Plenty of rural roads too if you prefer that though it's a hilly area outside the city!

Depends how far you want to go. Theres a decent circular route out via Botley, south of Eynsham, to Witney (lovely cafes there) then north via Finstock & Charlbury to Great Tew (super Pub there, lovely setting), back via Sandford St Martin, Wooton, Bletchingdon, Islip, and across the A40 at Marston. About 50 miles; start at 0930, coffee in Witney around 1030, lunch at Great Tew about 12, back mid afternoon.
