Thanks for the lovely photos. I think the east-side footbridge is future-proofed to be capable of carrying trains, if the east side of the station is totally rebuilt, and acquires a new through platform 2. Any discussion of that, probably belongs in a very speculative thread!

Earlier in this thread it was confirmed the ‘footbridge’ span is already the same design as the new P5 rail span, and an additional footbridge of a lighter construction will be added as and when needed, I’ll try and find a link. Seems it’s post #703 that has links to the NR explanation.
