Oxford - Auchinleck

Hi all,

I'm planning to go from Oxford (OXF) to Auchinleck (AUK), leaving around 10am on [...], and then returning leaving around 3pm on [...]. Times could be plus or minus an hour or so if that helps, and committing to particular trains is fine. I have no railcard.

The best I've found is:

£106.20: OXF to KRK: OFF-PEAK R, Restriction: 2T, Route: BANBURY PRESTON
£5.50: KRK to AUK: ANYTIME DAY S, Route: ANY PERMITTED
£5.50: AUK to KRK: ANYTIME DAY S, Route: ANY PERMITTED

(KRK = Kirkconnel) for a total of £117.20, changing at Birmingham and Carlisle. Advance tickets aren't available yet, but I'm not expecting to get anything for those dates.

This'll be a long enough trip as it is, so I wouldn't like a significantly longer journey, or one involving more trains, unless it was significantly cheaper.

Can anyone suggest anything better, please?

I wouldn't rule out Advances. There may be fewer, and at more restricted times, but it's rare for a full day to be completly wiped out, even at Easter. You'll just have to be on.the ball when they are released!
