I was looking for an itinerary Oxford (OXF) to London St Pancras International (STP) ahead of a Eurostar trip next Friday 7th Feb.

As I already hold OXF-CIV (London International) tickets, the prices were a bit irrelevant to me.

However, I noticed that Chiltern had £18 advances, say for the 0904 train, that could not be discounted to a £12 minimum fare using a (16-25) railcard? (I checked this using Southeastern and greateranglia's apps)

The forum's website suggests split advance singles which generates a saving, but this is still not as cheap as a £12 minimum fare...

What am I missing?

Advances aren't subject to railcard minimal fares

The ticket type code is Z13, and the fares destination is 0785 ZONE U1* LONDN

This ticket on this flow is not 16-25 railcard discountable.

This is almost certainly a mistake, given the equivalent ticket to London Terminals is discountable.

We think there's perhaps a missing Non Standard Discounts record for this ticket type and the 0785 destination.

And of course, we never noticed before now, because it worked completely fine with the U-Zone add-ons system, where the TIS was responsible for calculating the totals and there wasn't the reliance on poorly maintained PMS-data:

£11.95 instead of £18 when the TIS can calculate zonal add-on fares instead of needing to rely on TOC-priced fares.

And for the sake of completeness only GWR price tickets to London International from Oxford, but they only price a Euro High Saver Return and no Single.

Thank you for this! Does this need a follow up with Chiltern to fix? It seems like yet another complication of the U zone ticketing chaos... I'd never buy this ticket normally, but it's quite bizarre!

I'm informed that this has now (hopefully) been fixed and should go out in tonight's fares feed.

"Retailers shouldn't be calculating these fares, leave it to us! We're perfectly capable of pricing them!"

Conversely, if TOCs aren't made aware that something is broken they can't fix it.
The broken U zone fares could be fixed painstakingly, one at a time, if we all report issues as and when we find them. Thank you for taking steps to get this one fixed!

Alternatively, all the broken U zone fares could be fixed in one fell swoop by restoring retailers' ability to sell the add-ons.

Thank you all for fixing this! It's great to see that things can be updated/changed relatively quickly!
The issue with something like this is escalating it to someone at the relevant TOC who understands the issue and is able to do something about it.

You’re likely to get more success at getting something fixed by posting it on here than by raising it with customer services, such is the breadth of people who frequent this section of the forum!
