You will not find the above listed in any advertising...So why call it that ?.
The replacement diesel service on the above branch is classified as a charter service as although WCRC are a TOC their agreement is only for prebooked charter services...So the only way they can operate the branch is a no pay,ie free service.
Add to this two old/heritage diesels and hey presto all the diesel nerds etc have congregated on the trains...Yes it great the trains are being used,but by the wrong people...The tourists from abroad I can imagine are bemused and in the long term even this stop gap will only leave a sweet taste in the mouths of the diesel enthusiast who lets be honest will not be spending any money if at all in the lakes.
Yes it is a diesel gala ,and as a bonus you can ride the train all day for nothing!...Oh and the RRBs are still running and to use them them guess what you need a ticket to use them...This is the continuing farce that is Northern and Network Rails farce.
Oh and as a side issue,at present there are on 2 trains per hour Preston to BPN on Saturdays!!...You will not be surprised to know that RRBs are still running till at least 30th June..Thats after 8 months of them ...All the above ,if you had forecasted this in 2017 ,you would have been told to go get something checked..
