Overnight BOJ on the return portion of a CDR?

Hypothetically speaking. If one was to purchase a Off Peak Day Return, but due to circumstances such as a concert running late, would one be allowed to break ones journey overnight if one missed the last connection

For example travelling from Birmingham International to Cradley Heath. If the concert at the Genting finished at 2215, it would be nearly 2230-2245 until one got to Birmingham International. The last Stourbridge train departs Moor Street at 2301, would a overnight BOJ be allowed, or would one have to buy another ticket?

What? You would consider staying in the centre of Birmingham for six hours instead of just catching the 9 bus back to Stourbridge where there are two departures after midnight?

An Off Peak Day Return is only valid until 0429 on day 2. Therefore in the circumstances you describe, you would need to purchase a new ticket for travel the next day.

The ability to make an overnight break of journey on Day tickets was withdrawn in 2011.

All travel now must complete by 0429 on Day 2.
