Over 60s concessions

Regretfully aged 60 I am not eligible for an ENCTS free bus pass however I do have a Senior Citizen's Railcard and have just realised that I can buy a concessionary Peak Wayfarer!

Is this generally the case that this kind of regional day pass is available at concessionary rates for "young" over 60s?

Not generally, but some council/tourist routes will give discount to allow for foreign/welsh/scottish visitors who don't have an English OAP Pass

You can also purchase a Senior Coachcard from National Express allowing one third off ticket prices. or move to Scotland, Wales or Greater London where 60 is still the eligible age

Don't worry, the years pass much quicker when you are over 60 so your ENCTS pass will come soon.

There's a £10 one-off fee, but it has almost the same validity on National Rail as the Freedom Pass i.e, after 9.30 a.m. Compared to the English version, it offers free 24 hour bus use (as compared to 09.30 to 23.00) and free Underground, Overground, DLR and tram (as opposed to full fares) and NR as above, so the £10 could be recouped on the first day of use. I think when Calamity Clegg and other politicians threaten to withdraw free bus passes it's the super London version they're thinking of.
