Hi, I was wondering, just a bit of fun this really, but what sights/landmarks do you pass on your way to work / school or some other place you visit reguarly?

1) how many railway stations / railway lines do you encounter?
2) what method of transport do you usually use?
3) how many footsteps do you reckon?
4) do you like the journey or not?
5) where does your journey end?

Here goes...

1) 2. Netherfield station and Carlton station. cross the former using a bridge and the latter by level crossing.
2) Bus (or my own two legs if I can be bothered, or if I spent my money on something )
3) about 1000 probably
4) The bus journey isn't overley exciting (the best bit is probably waiting for a 158 at Carlton station at the lights )
5) Ends at Carlton-le-willows school, Gedling, Nottingham :-x

2) Walk, the bus takes longer than walking

4) Depends which way I'm going and what I've got at home or uni

On fridays or wednesdays if I'm in a rush to get to the south of the campus

2) Walk

1) Qlasgow Queen St Low/High level; Buchanan St Subway; Argyle St station; Glasgow Central High Level (depends on where I'm going).
2) Subway, or train then walk (again depending on where...)
3) hmmm... main Uni is 5 km, each pace (2steps) is about 1 metre so 10,000 if I walked all the way....
4) it is passable. Sometimes for variety, I get train to Partick, then the subway up the hill (if going to main uni)
5) Glasgow Uni (Byres Rd end); Stobhill Hospital, Gartnavel Hospital

1) Get on at Filton Abbey Wood, get off at Bristol Temple Meads
2) Drive to Filton and get the train
3) It's about a 4 min walk from station to my work
4) Don't mind it, normally have to stand in 1st class vestibule in the morning but it's not too busy. Nice & quick but station facilities are a bit poor

JOURNEY 1: SCHOOL
1) Don't travel by train, but pass by Mt. Vernon and Uddingston en route.
2) School bus or, during SQA exams, I get a lift in
3) About 100. I get a lift to the bus stop (a good mile away hock and a wee bit on the end.
4) Not really. I have to control S1-3 becuase I'm a prefect, and it's bloody boring.

JOURNEY 2: ORCHESTRA/TOWN
1) Board at Kirkwood, pass though Bargeddie, Ballieston, Mt. Vernon, Carmyle and arrive at Glasgow Central. Occasionally take N. Clyde Line on Sundays from Blairhill.
2)Train, and a wee walk at either end.
3) 1,500 each way give or take
4) Yes; good wee ride into Glasgow Central; but the N. Clyde train bores me to death.

1) how many railway stations / railway lines do you encounter?

Get the train from Farnborough or Woking to Waterloo, then the bus passes the former Aldwych tube station [Piccadilly], City Thameslink [FCC], St Pauls tube [Central] and finally ends at Barbican [Circle/H&C/Met/FCC]. You can see Embankment tube [Bakerloo/Circle/District/Northern] if you look down a side road, and Monument tube station [Circle/District] as you turn a corner but don't actually pass directly beside them so I guess they don't really count.

2) what method of transport do you usually use?

Scooter to the station (either Farnborough or Woking), train to Waterloo, then route 4 bus to Barbican (or if Metroline are having a bad day, then London Central route 172 to St Paul's and walk down a road called 'Little Britain' ).

3) how many footsteps do you reckon?

No idea.

4) do you like the journey or not?

Not normally too bad if you've got a book or some music to listen too.

5) where does your journey end?

A short walk from where the bus drops me off outside Barbican tube (or to be precise, Charterhouse Street, directly opposite Smithfield Market).

I've found Scottish bus drivers are much better at getting rid of smokers than their English counterparts. They often open the back doors up, go upstairs and demand the smokers leave the bus. If they refuse, they are "gently persuaded". Whereas English drivers, if you told them people were smoking, would say "Eh up, give me a light will yer".

Er, as for my usual journeys... one I do often...

1. Three, two over bridges either side of Gorgie and one at Haymarket
2. LRT's number 25 (or sometimes X25 if it's running)
3. Depends where in the city centre I'm going
4. 'tis reasonable
5. Anywhere between halfway down a traffic jam near Haymarket and Picardy Place

walking, it's dead cheap

Leeds Central (closed), Leeds, Cottingley, Morley, Batley, Dewsbury, Ravensthorpe, Mirfield, Deighton, Huddersfield

2) what method of transport do you usually use?
Train

700ish to Leeds Station, same again Huddersfield Station to Uni

4) do you like the journey or not?
Not bad

5) where does your journey end?
Huddersfield Uni.

I'm gonna do my trip to Dan's, as it's the most frequent usual journey I make.

Buxton, Stockport, London Euston, London Waterloo and Ash Vale are the stations that I use during the journey. I use the WCML and a little of the SWML.

2) what method of transport do you usually use?
Walk, Train, London Underground

3) how many footsteps do you reckon?
No idea! It's about 30mins walk to Buxton station. Then a walk around the tube. Then a 10min walk to Dan's house.

4) do you like the journey or not?
I do, although I often sleep from Stockport to London as the WCML is getting rather boring.

5) where does your journey end?
Dan's house in Ash Vale.

4) Its not too bad can sometimes be bad very varied
