I‘m not sure MPs do know what p coded cancellations are.

In fact I’m not sure that a majority of people reading this thread know what they are.

Thats a fair challenge. Before reading this thread I didn't have the faintest idea. Let me guess without re-reading the thread and you can correct ne if you choose.

P code is a short notice change to the published timetable (before 22.45 on the day before). It can be for a number of reasons including maintenance works and short staffing.

Worse still most of the public will not want to be bothered with all this complex jargon !.

I have to wonder how this will all come out in the media. Will it ?. Is there enough of a story there without it getting too complicated to bother ?.

I am open minded as to whether the DfT wanted P-coding over used or are surprised.

All that is going to happen is the railways have a damning reputation and the government might do something about it.

The need for positive change (modernisation) all lost in the mists of a scandal of statisitics.

Right now my thoughts after one pint are that the railways are getting destroyed by this. NHS next ?.

I have worked with the Burges Salmon commercial legal team and found them very impressive. (This was not, however, on a railway contract.) I think we can safely say that FG chose them because they were good and certainly not because they were the cheap option.

They just aren’t a proper full service law firm in the city sense. Not that it matters but, for a organisation as large as FG, they’re most certainly a budget option.

No they are not, but they do do contract management as a core service. I am guessing that they are about a third of the price of S&M

Cheap Bristolians. S&M is reassuringly London-expensive and relentlessly focussed on quality. Something ridiculous like 70% of their associates went to either Oxford or Cambridge. Some ridiculously bright people there, some of whom are so clever that their intelligence crowds out their people skills…

Obviously the crème de la crème of Slaughters lawyers go on to become train drivers .
