Can anyone tell me if the teal colour was different on the Lima and Hornby releases of their HST on the original Midland Mainline livery?

Thanks in advance

It wouldn't suprise me if they were different, but I think the Lima HST was a better model, so even if it was slightly wrong I would still have that one. Be interesting to see if the Bachmann Turbostar matched liveries with either!

Yes they were different, the Hornby model was considerably more blue than both the real thing and the Lima model. When I first saw it in the catalogue I thought it was just an image error, but it turns out it actually was like that!

So, get the Lima model: Not only is the colour more faithful to the original, but Hornby only did the Midland Mainline teal livery on the older short length mark 3s, so you'll only find scale length mark 3s in the livery from Lima.

That's great guys thanks very much.

Just to add the Bachmann Turbostar is a shade bluer that the Lima HST, I had a Lima FO but never actually managed to get the HST set.

Will see if one crops up in Model Rail Scotland in February.

All I can do is live an hope! :(

Oh before I forget, the first model from Lima had white lower bodysides, not the biege colour it should have had, a minor niggle maybe, but worth noting incase you see it and think it's not right or it's 'a fake'.
