Origin station DRC

Hi I have purchased an advance single Dorchester South to Waterloo - The ticket instead of showing the usual DCH code is for DRC to CLJ and CLJ to WAT (obviously a split at Clapham Junction) Can anyone explain the DRC code? The eticket and pdf itinerary clearly say Dorchester South, but the the fare was surprisingly low.

I suspect that is the answer. There was a Dorchester Stations group previously (known now publicly as you mentioned) which is what most flows from either station were defined to/from.

DRC isn't specific to any one retailer - if a fare is from or to a station, then its CRS code is used on the eTicket. If a fare is from or to a fare group, like Dorchester South or Dorchester West, then there is a list of "fake" CRS codes to use for the group. LON for London Terminals, BIR for Birmingham stations, MCR for Manchester stations, DRC for Dorchester group, and so on

Above DRC it should say "Dorchester South or West" (very specifically it should be this string), as that's the fare location name that matches DRC. Underneath you'd expect to see the itinerary which will always be to a specific station rather than the group.

For example a fare from the group should look like this (mine is a red specimen ticket rather than yellow but it's otherwise the same):



The fact you say it's an Advance, and you say it looks like it just says "Dorchester South" is intriguing to me. There are no Advance tickets to the group I can see, they're all fares from Dorchester South explicitly. So how you've got DRC on it I don't understand.

It would be interesting if you were happy to share it (without the barcode and if you'd prefer with any dates or times redacted is absolutely fine)

Yes, and now I look at the pdf it is indeed Dorchester South or West. I was looking at the eticket

As it's an Advance Single, necessarily it has to be one Dorchester station or the other. As the ticket is for the 0825 departure for Clapham Junction / London Waterloo, and using South Western Railway only, it'll be Dorchester South. So, not really either/or!

Looks to me like there's a ... after the word South, as if the remainder of the DRC description has been truncated.

There solves the mystery - the NW3 flash sale fare is defined from the group, and BRFares just isn't showing it because it's a future dated fare

Which looks like £12 from Dorchester to London, noting the words "Fares start from as little as".
