When does the turnback platform at Rochdale open?
RTT shows no trains terminating there in next month's timetable change.
Off topic I know, but it is related to the planned services through Victoria.

Already operational. Was used on Monday when it was flooded at Walsden.

Just a thought, I wonder how the CDM documentation deals with end of life replacement of the lower level footbridge under the higher level railway bridge - i.e. Can it be removed without having to first remove the bridge above ;)

Lower it onto a pontoon?

I seem to remember reading somewhere - can't remember where - that there was some discussion about putting a statue of G. Stephenson on the remaining girder bridge column in front of the recently revealed Grade 1 bridge.. Anyone know if there's any truth in this? Would be a nice touch and a nod to the heritage crowd that so bitterly opposed the whole project...

User "Brickie" on SSC has drawn attention to this Salford publication:

http://www.salford.gov.uk/people-communities-and-local-information/life-in-salford/

See the heading "Transport" on page 3. This item, by the Mayor, appears on the face of it to imply that the extra money to fund the second phase of platform work at Salford Central (see discussion in this thread on pages 111-2, starting with #1665) has been found.

Good to see the progress being made.

I went past this morning, a huge crane is set up next to Trinity Way which is closed next weekend (10-12 December) so presumably that's when they're putting the span across the road. The supports look more-or-less ready.

False alarm (or rather false unalarm). The latest committee papers show it's still subject to funding.

Just noticed that the usual Manchester airport to Edinburgh TPE service starts at Manchester Victoria today, is this due to the ordsall chord works?

Looks like the "Christmas" engineering work has been started a week early.
It's called "Amended Service from Dec 19-23" on NRE, but I don't know how long it has been advertised.
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/today.aspx

It rather suggests the Ordsall Lane remodelling work is bigger/taking longer/running later than expected.
The CLC alterations are not involved this week, but all the other diversions are in place (including ATW turning round at Warrington).

? It's been public for a while:

http://www.networkrail.co.uk/north/Ordsall-Chord.aspx

To ensure this essential work can be carried out safely, train services in and out of Manchester will be affected at different times, including:
  • Weekends from Saturday 29 October until Sunday 11 December 2016.
  • Between early Sunday 18 December 2016 until the last service on Monday 2 January 2017.

Oxford Road and Deansgate stations will also be affected and be closed on December 27 and 31 as well as January 1 and 2. All stations will be closed to train services on Christmas Day and Boxing Day as usual.

Passengers are being advised to plan their journey and check www.nationalrail.co.uk or with their train operator before they travel.

Picked up an orange amended Timetable 14 for 18/12/12 until 02/01/17 today in Wigan.

I assume other timetables will also be out for this time period.

I did a few trips on the Bolton - Manchester Airport Rail Replacements today and a number of times the stand by coach had to be sent out as the main coach was full, Northern might have to look at increasing the frequency here to meet demand

Dont forget that tickets from any location subject to disruptions on the chord works can use the Metrolink free of charge from Victoria to gain access to Piccadilly and the airport. I think that is the way id personally chose.

There should be some movement on the replacement and removal of the Water St Bridge tonight potentially so I hear. I might have a wonder down tomorrow.
