Sorry to ask such a basic question on here, but I have wondered something for quite some time.
Most passenger train sets I have seen all seem to have an orange stripe just below roof level which goes along the length of the train (and sometimes around the front). Sometimes this there is also a gold stripe which seams to indicate first class (I think the FGW HSTs have this).
(having looked at some photos of SWT's trains they have the stripe much lower)
Is there a reason for this stripe or am I just being silly?
