Hi all,

I'm planning a trip from Nuneaton to Hastings, outward this Friday, 19th June, arriving in Hastings anywhere between 1000 and 1500, returning after 1000 on Sunday, 21st June.

If the part of the journey across London is via the Undergrond, ideally this would be step free.

I'm considering travelling with Avanti between Nuneaton and London Euston, unless an alternative route would be better.

Many thanks in advance.

If you can get to Thameslink (eg walk Euston to St Pancras albeit escalators at St P) - then you can:

- Travel in 1st class rear compartment of the T-Link train using a std class ticket
- Take any Thameslink to Haywards Heath
- Get off at Haywards Heath, remain on the same platform for the Eastbourne and Hastings Southern train via Lewes (which may split on route)
If it is not on the same platform it is on the same 'island' at Haywards Heath as all southbound trains go from platforms 1&2 and all northbound from 3&4 - or vice versa - so it's a good step free place to change - toilets / cafe / seats / wating room all on the southbound island

It's slower than the via Charing Cross Tonbridge Hastings route (which you can do on Thameslink via a change at London Bridge but you will have to go up and down long escalators / lifts at London Bridge I suspect)

- Presumably also possible to go
Nuneaton to Leicester
Leicester to St Pancras
But possible steps at Leicester - which would avoid the Euston to St walk

Not sure of costs aspects of these longer routes - obv slower too

The direct route would go to Euston with Avanti, then Northern Line to Charing Cross and direct train to Hastings. Other more roundabout means of crossing London are possible if you wanted to avoid the escalators at Euston and Charing Cross. HS1 from St Pancras changing at Ashford could be considered.
