You will probably need a relevant degree in Transport Planning or experience already in the sector judging by the descriptions.

While a Transport Planning degree would clearly be a good choice for a job doing just that, plenty of the department's current staff have much less specific degrees and there are some with the 'equivalent experience' rather than a degree. Maths, Economics and Geography seem quite well represented. Experience in the Train Planning community within the rail industry, Transport Consultancies, Bus Operators, Airlines and the relevant areas of local authorities and other similar backgrounds could all potentially be ways to be a credible candidate...
