Would the interview for an Operative (signalling) position be the eight non technical skills kind of thing or would it be a different format?

Yes it would include questions based around the 8 NTS, with additional questions on electrical equipment such as a circuit etc there will also most likely be an electrical practical where you will have to wire a plug and use tools. They'll be assessing you on your technical ability and safety conscious.
