Anyone here used to play Command & Conquer, C&C Red Alert 2 or Dune 2000?

If so, you may want to take a look at OpenRA (which, as the name suggest, is free, as it is open source).

The only caveat is that you need an acceptable video card to run it, nothing particularly fancy though.

And if anyone wants to try an online game sometime...?

Same here! Still got a copy of RA2 for the PC. Can't promise ill be very good at it, and I'm not one for using cheat codes if I can help it.

I help run a computer games club, and it's surprisingly popular among youngsters, given that it's essentially a late 1990s/early 2000s style game.

It's also very sociable playing multiplayer games on a Local Area Network (LAN) and they don't tend to get too upset when they lose.

I played it for a few months a year or so back, I didn't realise they'd done an RA2 version of it.

Best bit about it compared to the original is being able to have it running 5760 X 1080 resolution. Puts a whole new meaning into "Battle Control online"
