I've been updating a set of BVE 2 routes, Sandymill to Invermay Electric (main developer Robert Glass, track electrified by Anthony Bowden) and Sandymill to Ashfield (route files created by Craig Allan using SM-IM objects). The routes are set in Scotland, 1986-1993.

Here are a few screenshots and a simple route map. It's 73 km (46 miles) from Sandymill to Invermay and 18 km (11 miles) from Sandymill to Ashfield. Click on each image to enlarge it.

Features of this new version:

- fixed transparency problems that showed in openBVE
- corrected all coding errors and ambiguities reported by openBVE
- installed UK signalling
- replaced semi-functional AWS with fully working AWS
- changed default traction for diagrams (all trains available in openBVE versions: 37-4, 47, 150-1, 158, 320, HST)
- revised stopping patterns and timings
- provided BVE4-style timetable bitmaps
- made cab brightness dependent on surroundings (cabs now go dark in tunnels, etc.)
- added some other lighting and weather effects
- defined points of interest to replace defaults (jump between them with Num1 and Num7 in track view and fly-by view)
- enabled excess speed warnings
- dealt with 'flying objects' (in the original routes, you can see trains and other objects floating 200-300 meters above ground) *
- made numerous small changes: added, removed, replaced, or repositioned objects; modified object geometry and textures (including virtually all OLE textures); modified track geometry; etc.

The routes are currently in beta testing. Stay tuned.

* In fairness, that was a result of one of the tricks the original developers employed to get around an annoying restriction in BVE 2.
