The only one I've wondered about is whether it would make sense to move the IC services from Holyhead to Euston to run instead via the Marches and the Chiltern line, with an upgrade to hourly all day offsetting the fact that they'd be much slower, and potentially using something like 175s, allowing Avanti to run an electric-only fleet. However, as the 80x have been ordered I suspect that's off the agenda.
