A few months ago, my flight into Leeds Bradford was diverted to Liverpool due to fog. One of those things, and Jet2's contingency plans were well oiled and they were able to organise a fleet of coaches pretty quickly.
However I was a bit surprised that the coaches were only going to the Airport. As anybody familiar with Leeds Bradford will know, it could well have been the inspiration for the phrase "arse end of nowhere", so being dumped there several hours later than anticipated - by which time the bus service had gone to its infrequent evening timetable and with no taxis available as intending passengers whose flights had been cancelled had taken them - felt like it was compounding the impact of the delay.
I wrote to Jet 2 Customer Services suggesting that they might consider an option for a drop off in the centre of Leeds to make onward connections easier (either in addition to the Airport or having some vehicles go to the Airport and some go the city centre) for future occasions. By my reckoning such an option would have got me home at least 90 minutes earlier. Clearly some passengers will have vehicles parked at the airport so will need to return there, and the airline's obligation is to get passengers to the airport, but I don't think providing an option would be incompatible with that.
They acknowledged my feedback and said it would be considered, but I was wondering whether other airlines/airports make such an option available during disruption?
