Really appreciate someone telling me what company or website is the best for practicing online train driver assesment tests. Psychometric etc??

If you sift through the threads then you'll find a lot of useful info. The Group Bourdon tool is available to download from this site and is really useful for practising purposes. If you have an assessment then you should have received a document with all the information you need about the tests, plus some practice ones. I think that document might actually be available on here too.

Other than that there aren't really any other online resources as far as I know that you can actually practice with.

I agree with the above there isn't much beside what the TOC give you and group bourdon test. Really does depend on the TOC and what they want.

there should be a "become a train driver for dummies" book. I see lots of different tests, people practicing them...

Assuming I have zero knowledge, what advice would you give me in order to progress?

I had zero knowledge other than the Group Bourdon, and I just read the practice material sent to me and worked through it. I had 7 days between getting my assessment centre date and sitting the test so I didn't have a lot of time to practise, and in someways that was probably a good thing as I had less time to stress about it!

I'm guessing that you've applied for a position and are waiting to see if you made it past the paper sift? If you are successful then they should send you the practice materials at that point, although there is no harm at looking at them before then if you want to. The document is available on here I'm sure but if not then PM me and I will try and find it on my computer.

The Group Bourdon test is one of the tests that you'll sit at an assessment centre and tests your concentration. You can download a computerised version of the tests from the Railway Jobs and Careers forum page, and I personally found it very useful.

I know it sounds stupid and I am probably missing my chances, but I feel really insecure about it as I have no knowledge of what the procedure is, and what kind of test are involved ( lot of people already practising them ) and I dont want to rush myself into a bad application and get rejected straight away.

are you driver? or in the process of becoming?

I'm in the process at the moment - I've passed the assessment centre tests and I'm waiting for a date for the DMI (Driver Manager Interview) and assuming that goes OK, the MMI (Multi Modal Interview).

First thing to do is apply, as getting past the initial application process is the hardest bit, and then you can think about the tests. I knew nothing about all of this until I applied for a job last year and I did a bit of research - like you're doing now. Certainly don't stress about what hasn't happened yet
