'One' to go....

I think one is a rather stupid name for a rail company, it is supposed to signify anglias rail networks coming together to form one. Just stick with GER, great eastern ailway of somthing. When the first station announcements came out, people got confused hear is an example. 'The train now arriving ob platform 2 is the 13:40 ONE service to London...etc' The passengers thought that the service was the 13:41 but they all complained but i still dont see how an extra minute can affect someones journey.

I saw a 317 going to peterborough yeterday at witham, it hadn't had an overhaul since 1994, shocking. It looked like it was scrap, all the paint was peeling and it has reminents of the old NSE livery on it.

that surprises me, although everytime i have traveled on the ECML i tend to see "one" liveryed 317's at hornsey depot

but to see one going to Peterborough is suprising unless it was a stopper, but other than that, thats suprising as they are only capable of 75mph

I'm equally surprised, especially given that it's got a fairly considerable distance to run 'off the wires' between Haughley Junction and Peterborough .

How was it advertised as a Peterborough train? If it was the destination blind, it's fairly safe to assume that someone got it wrong, and if it was the info screens on the platform - it could have been referring to a different train, or maybe the EMU was standing in for a DMU as far as Ipswich only?

The announcement, the screen and the front of the train said it was going to peterborough

It was probably only going to Ipswich. When I pulled into Stratford today 2 x 317's (One in WAGN Purple, One in old LTS) were sitting in Platform 9 going to Ipswich.

Yes, when their were engineering works near calcton all trains stopped at thorpe lee soken but the train destination boards still said clacton, their m,ay have been a turbostar waiting at ipswich.
