Does anybody know about the annonymous Anglia Railways liveried Class 86 electric locomotive that's been seen throughout Wales and the South West usually being hauled by a Freightliner Class 47?

It is rumoured, and nobody has a number for it - It has also been seen being towed with four Mk2 Intercity carraiges.

Are One having an addition to the fleet to compensate the loss of there class 153?

Unlikely at the minute. All the spare pacers (currently) are going to FGW. No sign of any more being made redundant for a while.

There's nothing suitable been offered at the moment.

These 3 extra 153s have been used as spares recently, however at the end of September they get permanent diagrams which is the problem. However, the extra diagrams are simply to bring most services upto 2 car, so would assume that they'll just drop back down to single units.

Those 153s have been useful in August though, at one point 3x156 and 1x170 were OOU with various problems, and generall everything was able to be covered

One and it's absorbed companies when independant have always had disasters somewhere or another.

In fact, all of Anglia except for West Anglia was always facing difficulty in the past, as was Liverpool Street area, take Anglia's workhorses of the Class 86. How many did they have? They were only made rendundant with the operation of One.

I dont quite understand what you are getting at there, the 86s were replaced with something newer.

Yes the 90s plus hauled sets aren't really suitable for the outer-surburban work they do now but it was hardly a disaster

Anglia Railways was more of a disaster for just being Anglia, rather than the stock they used!

Yes, exactly, but they were only replaced when One came along. Anglia just chucked anything on the line that wouldn't cost them too much, but in the end, it cost them twice as much as having fast, new reliable locos.

I wouldn't exactly call 90's reliable! Wasn't there a time when 'one' were having to replace 90 hauled sets with 317's on peak hour diagrams due to ****e 90 availability?

They were more relilable than the 86s from quite early on in their time at One. The problem was that the new timetable at that point required more 90s than were available. as previous timetable saw less hauled sets and 170s on mainline work.


Anyway back to One Stock news.

321361's DTS has moved into Colchester shed for repair, this was the unit which was burned in an attack back in July at Wickford.

I beleive the majority of everything labelled One Anglia or Anglia Railways is or was always unreliable. Everything from staff to rolling stock to signalling.
