What tune(s) are you listening to right now?

I've currently got the John Peel: Right Time, Wrong Speed 1977-1987 compilation playing through my earphones. The current track is Half Man Half Biscuit: The Trumpton Riots. Cracking!!

I've been listening to various stuff through media player the last few hours whilst building a new route in Rail simulator.

Mostly, Linkin Park, a bit of Avril, Scar symmetry, Mettalica, Gun's & roses, REM, Sabaton, Cypress Hill, The rolling stones, Good charlotte, Green Day, sham 69 & the B52's........ Yes I have a diverse taste in music!:roll:

I grew up istening to peely, used to love his sunday show back in the 80's. Some real diverse music on there with some of the most crazy sounding bands as well, stuff like "Goat pill speed 4000" , "testicle explosion travesty" etc etc. They are made up by the way, but not far from some of the bands played.

Well, the compilation is certainly a mixed bag of punk, new wave, reggae, rap and all manner of other things besides (including the spoken word in the form of Ivor Cutler's Life in a Scotch Sitting Room, which is frankly madder than a barrel of badgers on amphetamines). However, the tracks are generally from some of the better known groups rather than Bryan's Tricycle or Rectal Prolapse Fiesta.

It was a bit of a chance buy on the back of the old sod living just down the road and my respect to his generally shambolic self-effacing nature. My musical tastes are normally a bit more quirky and a good deal further away from the mainstream.

Was listening to the Earth Jazz Agents earlier, I saw them play in a club in London (Ronnie Scott's for any Jazz connoisseurs reading) on Monday night and was given one of their CDs. Not what I'd usually listen to but it was quite good (although I think I preferred the house band that played before them ).

Well, this evening I have put Peely to one side and come a bit more up to date. I've got Hot Chip: Made in the Dark playing.

I'm not entirely sure yet whether or not I really like them, but I enjoyed the output of the Beta Band hugely so I thought I'd give these guys a go. It's interesting for sure, but I don't think the parallel to the Beta's actually stands up.
