Hi,

Was wondering if anyone could tell me what this OTM was doing in the sidings near Redcar central, didn't get a photo unfortunately, but I got its number off the side and its apparent name, it was numbered DR7380 3 and called Alexander Graham Bell. I know there is engineering works going on around that area, so I guess its got something to do with that?

Thanks.

A quick Google search reveals that DR73803 is a Plasser and Theurer 08 series plain line tamper. It's most likely stabled there in conjunction with the Engineering Works.

Just asking those who actually know the reality of definitions - best of coming from a real person sometimes.

It is similar to the use of the word bespoke.. different perceptions ..

When asking people who use such abbreviations days to day, helps raise awareness ( should they not be bull ****ting you ) in the terminology of the word within transport settings dude!

There is engineering work due on the Bishop Auckland - Saltburn line in April, but I'm sure that's just between Bishop Auckland and Shildon. It could be something to do with the new track going in between Thornaby station and Bowesfield signal box, which looks at an advance stage now. Either that or they're doing work on the Boulby/Skinningrove line, but hard to say since there are no passenger services and timetables to look at.
