As already reported on the Internet, the Porterbrook leasing company enterprise has sold the once British electric locomotives 87012 and 87019 (25 kV 50 cycles per second) of the type Class 87 to the Bulgarian state railways (BDZ) . After a preparation of the two locos in London Wembley (? - Willesden maybe?) before stationed (old depot)hauled by another locomotive the two locomotives were taken through the Channel tunnel then via Lille - Basel - book SG - Vienna - Sopron after Sofia they reached Austria today. During the obligatory transportation break in Vienna central marshalling yard the two engines could be observed in detail:

Hello Very beautiful pictures. In the pictures with the Taurus (I presume is the German loco) one can recognize very well, how small nevertheless the British light space profile is. The locomotives are correctly delicate:

Oh; my German isn't perhaps as good as I thought then :tard: . Thank you correcting it; interesting to see what our continental friends think of these; small, light and delicate. Don't remember those adjectives being used much to describe 87's before.

Only several months after being rolled out in July 1999, the first ready-to-operate TAURUS - the high-performance electric locomotive - has been delivered to Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). Locomotive No. 1016 003 of the TAURUS class successfully completed the official acceptance run under the eyes of the Austrian Federal Ministry for Science and Transport on January 5, 2000. That test run marked the culmination of six months of commissioning at Siemens' Wegberg-Wildenrath Test Center for rolling stock in North Rhine-Westphalia as well as subsequent certification runs on railway lines in both Germany and Austria.
TAURUS is an extremely powerful electric locomotive that makes the most of its three-phase AC propulsion system. The locomotive weighs 86 metric tons and is about 20 meters long. With a maximum output of 7,000 kW, which is almost equal to 10,000 hp, it has a top speed of 230 kph and is ideal for universal duty. ÖBB placed the order for the supply of 75 high-performance locomotives with Siemens AG Austria in 1997. An option for 100 more locomotives was then turned into a firm order in August 1999.
