On board stock

Folks,
On a recent 1st class virgin glasgow to London service,the on board host could not have been more generous handing out food,drinks and alcohol.After leaving nearly every station he was up and down the carrage dishing out the complimentary provisions.Honestly,l an not exaggerating,he was giving the goods away like they were going out of fashion.My question is this,do they staff have some form of quota that they have or can they basically give out all the stock they have on board and get restocked at the last stop.

in my experience quite a number of passengers don't take advantage of the complimentary alcohol due to them having to work on arrival etc
so I don't think giving me two g&t s every time will really be an issue

I also have found the Scottish staff on virgin first to be rather generous and also I might add very cheery and jovial----though never get quite the same service after change over

Going to Liverpool from London one morning, got a sandwich I wasn't interested in, an apple and a coffee.

Birmingham to Watford Junction one evning, got loads of sandwiches, crisps, waffles, coffee

Last trip of the day and the sandwiches would be binned otherwise.
