Olympic Park visit

Morning,

Tomorrow I'm going to vist the Olympic Park. Out of the four stations located around it, which are Hackney Wick, Stratford, Stratford International and Pudding Mill Lane, which is the most ideal? I've tried to work it out on maps but it doesn't give the best directions.

Please note that I'm travelling from Victoria having just got off the Megabus, and I'll have either a Zone 1-2 or 1-3 Travelcard.

I do fancy Stratford Intl and a journey on a 395, but I know it's not valid with Travelcards.

best bet get a train from liverpool st to stratford you will see the olympic park on the left . you need a zone 3 travelcard. get a tube from vic to liverpool st.

Thanks for this. Would it not be easier though to do it straight by tube with a change at Oxford Circus?

It's a shortish journey on the DLR to Royal Victoria, if you want a look at the cable car while you're there. You have to pay, but there's a Travelcard discount.

I might be stating the obvious, but there are no Off-Peak Day Travelcards for Zones 1-3. They come in zones 1-2, 1-4 and 1-6.

Stratford is in Zone 3 but you can use buses in any zone, so if you want to save money you can get a zones 1-2 Travelcard, get the tube to Bow Road and get the frequent bus to Stratford.

Hackney Wick is in Zone 2 if you want to get there by Overground and not pay for zones 3-4.

If you are doing the 'Park in Progress' tour, the entrance appears to be near Pudding Mill Lane DLR (zone 2/3), which is also near the 25/425 bus route from Bow Road. You could also do the short walk from Bow Road to Bow Church and get the DLR for one stop.

Thanks for the replies. We did do this after, got the District Line from Victoria to Bow Church and then got the DLR to Pudding Mill Lane where we saw the stadium and a structure called Orbit!

We then wanted to go to Piccadilly Circus so we got the DLR to Stratford (which is in zone 3!), then got the Central Line to Holborn and then got the Piccadilly Line to Piccadilly Circus.

It was Zones 1-2 after! But the journey plan it gave us, to go from Pudding Mill Lane to Piccadilly Circus, was to go via Stratford!

That's probably to save time, since that has fewer stops than heading south on the DLR.

After I'd worked at the Olympic Park last year my Mum rang and said she'd seen the Orbit on TV and was it me that broke it?...

I've wanted to take a mat up to the top of that and slide down it ever since I first saw it!

They should have attached it to the Air-Line, up one end, down the slide the other........
