Thanks 156443. Having picked through that typical cliche ridden local news article , it looks like a standard hotbox problem so hopefully a reasonably straightforward repair (assuming facilities are available somewhere).

No ! It was not a hot axle box, but an overheating big end bearing on the connecting rod. There were signs of a problem on its previous mainline trip to Windsor. Incidentally 70013 has roller bearing axleboxes.

Cromwell is due on the KWVR 9th-11th March for their steam gala.

Hope its nothing too serious which needs a repair.

Passed by this afternoon; she's still stabled on the sidings next to the station, right next to Koblenz Road opposite the Riverside Complex. There was some activity but still no movement.

I think I saw this loco heading South on the M1 on the back of a low-loader yesterday morning, it was around J23a (East Midlands Airport).

I think I saw this loco heading South on the M1 on the back of a low-loader yesterday morning, it was around J23a (East Midlands Airport).

That may have been Tornado, as that was being transported down the M1 yesterday morning from the NYMR to the SVR due to the bridge strike on the Whitby line.

Oliver Cromwell was on a low loader yesterday (Wednesday 14th March 2018) apparently going somewhere on the GCR, and today Tornado is on the same low loader en route to the SVR. Pictures (by Peter Eaton) on Flickr:

It appeared at KWVR last weekend so would have been on the lowloader from there.
