Oldham Loop closure

So the Oldham Loop closes in two months time. According to my friendly NR conductor once the line closes NR relinquish all responsibility for the line and from October 3rd Metrolink will be providing replacement bus services.

Does anyone know anything about the plans they have with replacement services and if they will start as soon as the line shuts? Will they be stopping at the rail stops or the planned Metrolink stops?

Will they be more frequent than the trains and have any zones been established yet so I figure out the fare?

As I understand it, GMPTE is talking to bus operators to provide 'an enhanced service' to cater for those who may switch to that mode of transport during the closure of the line.

When the Bury & Altrincham lines were transferred to Metrolink, they retained the original platforms. Revisiting some Oldham loop stations a week or two ago, those I observed had all been completely flattened. Presumably, new platforms wiil be built - but why get rid of platforms that were mostly in useable condition? Building lots of new platforms must be adding £ millions to the cost of the conversion.

I was there on the last day and I have to say a few of the stations looked as if they needed pulling down - Hollinwood and Failsworth to name two. IIRC part of Hollinwood was being held up by steel supports, and some of the platform had fallen away towards the back. Plus I guess they wouldn't meet diasbility requirements. Best to start again. At least part of Oldham MUmps was saved by the ELR.

Think it was Failsworth that had a steep back to the platform from the road. IIRC Hollinwood also had steps to a subway to reach the other platform although there may have been a bridge across.
