Old signal

Have an old signal that was my dads before he passed away ,, it has been sat out many years and need to move it on , can anyone help me as were would be best to advertise it I think is a semaphore signal .

A photo would be useful so we can identify what sort of signal it is. As to disposal, it could be sold on e-bay, at a railway auction (see adverts in railway magazines) or donated to a local preserved railway or museum.

This is an upper quadrant LMS/BR standard 'Stop' semaphore signal; I think it is a short (3ft) arm. I can't quite make out the letters just above the red glass - these should indicate who made it or possibly when it was made.

If you find that the 'glass' is actually plastic, then the signal is probably a BR one. By the way, if you don't know much about signals, the blue 'glass' with a yellow-flamed paraffin lamp or under-run electric bulb gives you the green 'clear' signal with minimum light loss.

Thanks for that info ,, if defo has the letters BR on the side of the signal , it looks to be blue glass but will check again if if is actually plastic , I'm amazed at how big it is it's been knocking about since I was a kid so we've had hold of it for 30 years
