How many class 150s did scotrail have before they went south. I understand some left during the 1990s and the rest of the batch left in 2005/6. Where are they now?

When the final units left, what diagrams did they work during the final weeks in Scotland and what were their regular diagrams before heading south?
Did they ever venture north to inverness/Aberdeen and to glasgow central?
And were they common in working together with the 156s/158s and 170's in service?

The linked information looks pretty accurate to me.
In addition to the regular Fife, Bathgate and Dunblane work, the 150s sometimes visited Glasgow Queen Street. The class also made occasional appearances on the Edinburgh - West Calder - Glasgow Central route.
This is very much my recollection of 150 work north of the border. I also don't recall ever seeing them coupled to other unit types though it doubtless happened.

Used to work to Perth and occasionally Dundee also. Only ever coupled to 158s and I only ever encountered one case where they were coupled to a 170. Any screen shots knocking about of the interior as I remember it was pretty grotty?

I definitely remember them working on the Bathgate - Newcraighall services, I once and now to my annoyance flagged the 150 for the 156 on the rear - and guess which units stayed in Scotland

Of course the rest of the units moved down to ATW, joined by the ex Anglia 150/2s which came via Central Trains.

I remember seeing them working the Edinburgh to Carnoustie services on the odd occasion, around 2004 I think. I've personally never seen them north of Carnoustie, that's not to say they didn't go beyond.

Had one from Crewe to Shrewsbury just after they moved to Wales. Not only was it still in National Express Scotrail livery with as-built interior, but it had Lothian Buses tickets scattered around it!

Visited Queen St on some Dunblane services and right at the very end of their tenure in Scotland on Queen St to Anniesland services after their introduction. Obviously for only a very short period.

One would guess not, but I imagine that they were pressed into service earlier than planned as it was Summer, with the extra numbers that brings particularly in Wales.

They even made it down to the West Country as well, when the Wales and Borders / All Wales franchise ran down to Exeter and Penzance.

They ran over all GWR 150 routes from about 2008 when 6 went on long term lease to GWR until cascade of 150/1s in 2011. The 6 decreased as the 150/1s arrived. They were maintained by GWR also until there were just 2 and these went out on day leases using an ATW ECS from Canton to Gloucester in the morning and working Gloucester starters, returning attached to 2023 Portsmouth Hbr to Cardiff, the 158/9 off this going onto Canton and serviced there overnight. This 158/9 still does this and works 0630 Cardiff to Portsmouth Hbr the following morning.

No, correction. Those that went long term lease were ex Valley ones, but they went when they went off Canton daily.

I knew that - as they came across to FGW in ATW colours along with plenty of others (Ex Valley/Anglia/Wessex). They did however run with ATW in full ex ScotRail condition not long after their arrival from Haymarket.

I can remember that in August 2002 severe flooding closed the Low Level lines at Glasgow Central for several weeks, and while I was up there, there were many diversions. I'm somewhat vague now about the exact service alterations but I went for a ride to sample the route from Glasgow Queen St Low Level to Motherwell via Sunnyside Jn and the link to Whifflet South Jcn. Another interesting working was of trains working from Queen St High Level to Milngavie via Maryhill and Westerton and having to be Diesel hauled due to off wires. 150s (and 156s) worked these trains.
Somebody may be able to confirm what these diversions actually were because, as I said, my recollections are somewhat vague now so could be wrong.

Yes can confirm Glasgow QS to Milngavie was operated by 150

150 also were regular on GQS to Cumbernauld/Anniesland/Falkirk/Dunblane/Stirling

The first units hired from ATW to FGW were 5 recent transfers from Central, the ex-Anglia units. They'd been painted in ATW livery but the interiors had not been refurbished. As they went off to be refurbished they were swapped for the ex-Valley Lines units.

Thanks for that, I hadn't realized they were by then still unrefurbished.

Here's a picture of Ex ScotRail 150262 at Exeter St Davids, presumably having worked inbound from Cardiff on one of the Wales/West Country through services which existed at the time.

The DMUs were not on all lines but only where portions of their journey required them to travel over non-electrified lines. The Sunnyside to Whifflet diversion hasn't been used for years now and, according to another post somewhere, Scotrail drivers don't sign it any more. There is no regular service of any type over the route but is used for the occasional departmental train.

They were definitely on the Waverley to Dunblane services, but I don't recall ever getting a 150 to to Glasgow. Once the heritage units had passed, the Dunblane-Glasgow services were always Strathclyde Transport branded 156s.

Does anyone remember when ScotRail used Class 47s and Mark 2 coaches on some services i think it was before the introduction of Class 170s.

Do you mean the RES 47's and Waterman Railways stock. Think it was only for one Inverness - Edinburgh and return trip per day.

I found some Scotrail graffiti inside the destination blind cupboard on an ATW 150 a few weeks ago - luckily the rest of the train has been cleaned since <D

OK thanks for clearing that up !
I noticed theres a somewhat disused line on the other side , leading onto sunnyside line non electrified too.

I suppose so I just remember seeing a picture of one about 12 or 13 years ago when did that service end?

I can only find pictures of them running in 1995 using the Waterman stock. Seems they did a 10:30 Inverness - Edinburgh and a 15:40 Edinburgh - Inverness.

I love it when you find stuff like that on rolling stock. The door control panel on 153361 has a load of ex Northern stuff in it from its former FNW/Northern/ATW days

Look out for Nexus/TWPTE logos in the internal glass panels on 142s then...
