Old Oak Common Open Day - 5th August 2000

Having got my tickets for the September event, I dug out a scanner and my photos from that event. Not the best quality, don't believe I kept the negatives so they are just scanned from 6x4 prints. I also seemed to miss out a lot of interesting locomotives. Still worth having as most of the in service locomotives at the event are now either withdrawn or scrapped.

Many thanks for posting those shots Tim, I also attended and I can't believe that was 17 years ago, it was an enjoyable event. We travelled down from Crewe to Wembley Central on a Pathfinder Tours train double headed with EE class 20 & 37, does my memory serve correct in saying that the 390 driving car was actually just a mock up? You've prompted me to get scanning my 35mm slides from that day now!

They told me at the time that it was the real first vehicle from 390 001.

I had never really thought about it, but from this article - http://www.railmagazine.com/trains/built-to-tilt - it sounds like was a real body shell, but presumably on a simulated chassis. That would explain why they kept the red curtain running along the bottom of the display after the unveiling.
