Haywards Heath [HHE] to Manchester Stations via Crewe next Tuesday, need to break at Goostrey. National rail planner shows the through route leaving HHE at 8:06, leaving Euston at 9:40 on the Manchester Piccadilly [MAN] train.

I'm assuming it's OK to get off at Crewe and join the MAN stopping train to GTR, then resume to MAN after a long lunch.

NB - using a Senior Railcard for the ticket, so a reasonable £61 for the return. Returning non-stop on the Wendesday, late afternoon.

Please explain the CRS codes before using them. Those ones even stumped me for a moment.

But yes, to answer your question, you can break your journey at Goostrey. There is no break of journey restriction on this ticket.

Yes that seems fine. Do be aware that the usual Virgin Trains rule of using any train on a Railcard-discounted ticket will not apply because you are not travelling exclusively on Virgin Trains.

Thanks for the speedy advice. The Virgin issue should be OK as the travel on them is outside their peaks.

I'll remember to use the full station names in future - I come from the frequent flyer world where everyone talks fluent airport codes.

There are a lot more obscure railway stations (especially the codes) than airports, I'd expect ;)
